I just thought I’d keep you up to date with what’s happening at The Hoy and some other folk-related events in the coming few days and weeks:
Tomorrow Night (Tuesday 20th Jan) is an Open Mike Night at The Hoy featuring Derek ‘Otto’ Oliver. There will be plenty of space for floor singers and I’m the MC.
Next Tuesday (Tuesday 27th Jan) the guests at The Hoy are The Strawbs (Acoustic). There has already been a great deal of interest in the evening and I would recommend getting to The Ship early to get a seat.
This Wednesday (21st Jan) The Havering Folk Club return to their venue at The Golden Lion, 2 High Street, Romford.
This Friday (23rd Jan) Preview’s annual pantomime “Dick’s Willingto (the sequel) Dick fancies A-Broad” at The Spread Eagle, Prittlewell. Admission £1 Doors Open 8.30.
3rd Feb The Hoy guests are Mawkin:Causley – it’s sure to be another packed evening at The Ship.
Saturday 7th Feb – The 10th dance organised by Bullnose Morris, in aid of the Leigh Folk Festival Assoc. Music provided by Rat on a Stick at St Margaret’s Church Hall, Lime Avenue, Leigh on Sea. This is always very popular so get your tickets (£8) in advance by calling 01268 793905. (Bring your own booze and nibbles)
By the way, this year’s Leigh Folk Festival runs from 24th – 28th June 2009 and I gather there is already a formidable list of guest artistes. If anyone wants to get involved with the festival organisation in any way, either in the run-up or during the event, please let me know.
