Following the last year’s success of 6,000 visitors, The Chelmsford Arts Trail starts this week, featuring over 50 local artists.

The aim of the trail is to develop new audiences for the arts in Chelmsford, support local artists to raise their profile, exhibit and sell their works within the town as well as support for local small business development.

Apart from contemporary art, including installation and textiles, sculpture, photography, painting, prints, illustration and ceramics, the Trail will also include public art, vinyl floor art, an art swap shop, quirky performance art, an open-air cinema, new artist led studios and inventive photography projects.

Anonymous Art Postcard Sale is hosted by interior angle, the west end art gallery in Wells Street. For just £15, art lovers can own an affordable mini original. In addition to this, the gallery will be hosting an exhibition showcasing the work of selected artists in the Trail, where you will be able to meet and see the artists at work.

For local artists, there will be opportunities to meet other artists like yourself and gain inspiration from their work. The Shiny Shed art swap-shop is the perfect place to drop in and leave your artistic mark on Chelmsford as well as support others to start using their creative talents.

Studios of many local artists, including a new artist led space the Hive artist Studios based in Beehive Lane, Chelmsford, can also be visited as part of the Trail.
