The White Bus presents A Single Man film at the Palace Theatre on Sunday.
This is the first in the series of three films shown at the Palace Theatre this autumn and will be followed by Glorious 39 on Sunday 3rd October and It Happened on Fifth Avenue on Sunday 5th December. The White Bus director, Paul Cotgrove, said in the Echo today: “The series is designed to give local audiences a chance to see films that missed out on a full-scale release at the multiplexes, and also the chance to see films in the surroundings of the beautiful Palace Theatre”.
About A SINGLE MAN:
A Single Man is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherent part of the human condition, and ultimately the importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life.Colin Firth rightly took the plaudits for his powerful performance as a sensitive college professor trying to come to terms with the accidental death of his younger lover. But its 1962, he’s gay, and, when he is told the funeral is “only family”, his world completely disintegrates. Colin Firth is ably supported by Julianne Moore, wonderful as the gin-soaked best friend who still carries a torch. And the period ambiance is superbly realised by celebrated designer Tom Ford, making his directorial debut.
