The new exhibition at White Wall Space will feature work by music photographer Dean Chalkley.

Titled ‘Look Hear’, it will open from 7pm, followed by a live music event from ‘New Street Adventure’ and DJ sets upstairs at the Ship from 8.30 till 1am.

Dean Chalkley grew up in Southend on Sea and started taking photographs in 1988: ‘Acid house threw open my doors of perception’. He took photos for Dazed and Confused, among others.

Look Hear reflects Dean’s massive impact on music photography over the past decade. Winner of numerous awards – including: ‘Portrait Photographer of the Year’ at The Picture Editors’ Awards 2006; and the recent New Musical Express ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music Photography 2011’ – Dean’s work is now legendary.

It will include portraits of some of the most influential and iconic figures in music this millennium. Amongst these you will find Amy Winehouse, Pete Doherty, the White Stripes, Dave Gahan, Kasabian, Jarvis Cocker, Ian Brown, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis and many many more.

Dean is an international photographer who has commissions from publications worldwide and has held exhibitions across the globe. “Look Hear” also represents a homecoming celebration for Dean who is Southend-on-Sea bred if not born.
