Until 31 March – JOURNEY TO THE PODIUM @ Beecroft Art Gallery

Journey to the Podium celebrates the dedication of the Olympic and Paralympic athletes. See photos from the current exhibition at Beecroft Art Gallery.

The exhibition is a culmination of a three year project and provides, through art, a remarkable insight into the world of dedication, focus and sacrifice demanded of an aspiring Olympic and Paralympic athlete.

In the build up to the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, Essex County Council annually commissioned works by artists which  have ‘adopted an athlete’ to mark their ‘journey to the podium’ and the exhibition at Beecroft presents them all in a final exhibition.

After this year’s Games, the works will be exhibited in sporting and cultural venues across Essex.

Artists: Alan Hockett, Amy Rogers, Anthony Lyscia, Ben Dearnley,Damien Robinson, Dan Peppiatt, David Shields, Elaine Tribley, Helen Morse, Palmer Jacqueline, Davies Karen, Jones Les Bicknell, Lisa Temple Cox, Marc Burden, Mark Orbell, Paul Heard, Rob Smith, Ron Suffield, Stuart Bowditch, Tim Skinner, Toni McGreachan, Valerie Osment, Wei Ong (aka Silent Hobo)
