Thurrock based art agency Art:ifact will be hosting events featuring international and local artists in October. These informal activities will involve artist talks and works created within the Thameside Complex Gallery. The events are planned to act as a springboard for the visual arts in Thurrock.

Internationally renowned, South Korean, artist Ko Hyun Hie will be arriving in Thurrock on Thursday 7th October to create a work of art, at the Thameside Complex in Grays. The work will be unique and based on Ko’s experience in Thurrock. Everyone will be able to view the work at the Gallery from Thursday 21st October, when the show will be officially opened and supported by Travis Perkins.

Local artists will have a chance to present their work, alongside Ko, at the first Open Vision Night to be held in the Thameside Theatre bar. The event will be an opportunity for visual artists to show 20 images of their work, in a 4 minute slot. Open Vision Night will take place on Wednesday 13th October at 7.30 pm. Whether you are a practicing artist, passionate hobbyist or a culture vulture you will have the opportunity to informally present your art. The free event gives local artists the chance to show their work to an audience that will see many of the works for the first time.

The events are designed to raise the profile of the visual arts in Thurrock. Organiser Jonathan Curzon said “This presents the residents of Thurrock with a great opportunity to see an internationally renowned artists work without travelling to London. Art:ifacts aim is to develop a thriving arts scene in Thurrock, at the heart of this is local talent. After our first Open Vision Night, we plan to organise a group art show featuring local artists”.

Admission is free to both of the events, but artists need to register to take part in Open Vision Night. For more details contact Jonathan on 07717742596 or email contact.artifact@googlemail.com
