Get Set to Bloom at Southend Library
Southend in Bloom (www.southendinbloom.org.uk/) will be holding an information display at the town’s Central Library from Monday 24 – 29th January 2011. Visitors to the stand can also register their interest in entering this year’s competition.
Based on ’Britain in Bloom’, this free floral and environmental competition encourages any local resident, community group, business or school to take part and so help make the town look as attractive as possible. Prizes are given out at an awards ceremony held in the autumn. The official launch of Southend in Bloom 2011 will take place at the town’s Central Library on Saturday 9th April – watch the local press for more details closer to the date. Entry forms will then be available from libraries, the Civic Centre or downloaded direct from the Southend in Bloom’s website.
To find out more and keep up to date with the competition, please visit Southend in Bloom’s new website and Facebook page, which is packed with hints, tips and useful website links designed to help you get blooming! You can also follow the competition on Twitter at http://twitter.com/SouthendinBloom
Alison Rogers, Chairman of Southend in Bloom said
“Anyone can enter this free competition, and you don’t have to be a ’green fingered expert’ to take part. By getting involved, local residents, communities, schools and businesses can make a real difference to the town, and so create a better Borough in which to live, work or visit”.
Southend in Bloom Committee members representing all parts of the local community give up their time to support and run the competition voluntarily, and which has been running since 1995 and attracts interest from hundreds of local gardeners every year. -
