Clive Cowan opens for the melodic Prog-Rock / Folk-Rock band Breathing Space at Riga Music Bar.

Cowan’s solo set will be of about an hour long and will include almost exclusively his own compositions. He will start off with “electro-acoustic guitar songs of varying styles and genres but all from my roots in folk-rock and, unusually (due to the nature of the gig), ending with three electric rock songs (again my own) played against a drum sequencer which I programmed (in other words guitar and drums).”

Former front man of Iron Maiden, BLAZE BAILEY, brings his unique heavy rock to Southend.

After embarking on a solo career that spawned four successful and critically acclaimed albums under the band name BLAZE, a new line-up of experienced musicians from England, Colombia and New Zealand joined ranks with Blaze. In 2007 the band now named and known as ‘Blaze Bayley’ was born. This, his strongest line-up of musicians, it features Nico Bermudez and Jay Walsh on guitars, David Bermudez on bass and Lawrence Paterson on drums.

The band’s debut album ‘The Man Who Would Not Die’ was released worldwide in July 2008. The accompanying ‘Tour That Will Not Die’ visited over 20 countries throughout Western and Eastern Europe, The Balkans, South America and Scandinavia during 2009. A live album was released during this tour titled ‘The Night That Will Not Die’.

Now ‘Blaze Bayley’ – the band, are beginning their next world tour on February 9th 2010 in support of their second studio album ‘Promise and Terror’.

Bex Marshall brings blues to Riga Music Bar tonight.

Bex Marshall is a three in one deal – she writes her songs, plays a guitar and sings. According to Tom Clarke (Blues Review) she ‘moves instinctively and around the strings, with blues, rock fire and the dexterity of a bluegrass picker evident at turns… the consumate folk-rock songstress’.

Wales-based singer, guitarist and songwriter, Amy Wadge, is performing at the Riga Music Bar tonight from 8.30pm.

Winning twice Best Female Solo Artist at the Welsh Music Awards, she told the Stage magazine: “Last year I beat Charlotte Church. I was relatively unknown and press-wise it caused a stir – they are basically the Welsh equivalent of the Brit Awards.”

Be Sharp has an amazing sound that completely belies the three piece format, plus a unique mixture of quality songs, both their own material and covers that you may or may not recognize. Bob and Darren’s steaming rhythm section work underpins Jerry’s expressive and exiting guitar and many full musical boundaries may be crossed at a Be Sharp gig – a fistful of rock, a heart full of blues and soul – a dash of powerful guitar driven pop or maybe even the occasional atom of jazz, all threatened with the same potent blend of fiery vocals and great musicianship. If they like it, they’ll play it and in fact whatever they choose to do, it always somehow sounds like BE SHARP.
