We’re getting very excited at Metal as work is coming along at Chalkwell Hall, in Chalkwell Park. If you’ve had a chance to walk through the park recently you may have seen, lots of knocking down, digging and clearing out as the renovations get well underway.
In celebration of the building work starting at Chalkwell Hall, Metal commissioned photographer, Benedict Johnson, to work with sixteen local people to create a series of portraits of Southend people reflecting how they feel about the culture in their town.
The portraits can now be seen on the hoardings surrounding the hall, along with information and plans for the renovations.

Well, 11 days into this project and Damien and I went there on Sunday to see how they’d fared, and not one piece of graffiti on them! Brilliant.
